Trees will be replanted

YORKSHIRE Water have addressed complaints that they have caused environmental damage while completing work at Martins Ravine in Filey.

Several residents have contacted the Mercury to vent their anger after five trees were uprooted as part of work on the Muston Road housing development.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said the design wasn’t made lightly, adding: “Clearly this is a risk we would never tolerate and so unfortunately it was necessary, following consultation with the local authorities, to take the swift and necessary action we did in removing several trees, though it is important to stress that we will be replanting new ones on completion.”
