Youngsters challenged to get cooking
YOUNGSTERS are being encouraged to get cooking and enjoy a healthier diet after a special presentation of a DVD and cooking equipment from Sainsbury's supermarket.
And pupils from Raincliffe School will be trying to find the most inventive and nutritious dishes as part of the Active Kids Get Cooking challenge.
Sharon Balding, the business manager for the school, said: “We are delighted that Sainsbury’s has invited our school to take part in this challenge, and we are looking forward to working with Sainsbury’s to increase young people’s awareness of the importance of nutrition, and how food is produced.”
This event marks the supermarkets sixth Make The Difference Day and the launch of the Active Kids Get Cooking challenge.
Both initiatives will enhance local children’s culinary education by giving schools the equipment to get cooking.
Robert Brooke, the store manager, said: “I am thrilled that we are giving schools the tools to raise the level of skills and nutritional awareness in children through educational resources and a national cooking competition.
“I am also very excited to be talking to the children about British food and showing them the farms and how the food we are providing them with has been grown.”
