Waste firm on shorlist for award
A PICKERING-BASED waste-conversion company is the running to receive a regional award.
Bioflame Ltd is in with a chance of scooping regional development agency Yorkshire Forward's Sustainable Innovation Award after being named on a three-business shortlist ahead of March's Innovator/10 Awards
ceremony.
The businesses will battle it out for the prestigious prize, which is sponsored by Yorkshire Forward, in association with Yorkshire Innovation and Business Link Yorkshire.
The Sustainable Innovation Award celebrates outstanding advances by
Yorkshire and Humber businesses in environmental sustainability through
the development and marketing of innovative products, processes and services.
Bioflame Ltd uses its cleanburn technology to deliver a plant that converts 30,000 tonnes of low-grade biomass waste, which would otherwise go into landfill sites, into 20,000 megawatt hours per year of electricity supplied to the National Grid – enough energy to power more than 6,000 houses from each site.
