Scarborough County Council's insight on menu

BUSINESSMEN and women gathered in Scarborough to have lunch with the county council's chief executive.

Representatives from a variety of local companies met at the Royal Hotel for the networking event organised by Leeds, York and North

Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Following the dinner, the county council's chief executive John Marsden spoke about local authority finance and spoke about a rise in council tax to 2.94 per cent.

Chamber director Suzanne Burnett said:

"The chamber members attending the lunch benefited from having the opportunity to listen to and question Mr Marsden.

During his after-dinner presentation he eloquently highlighted to chamber members the reasoning behind the council tax increase and its knock-on effect to both the private and business community."

Following the lunch a forum meeting was held for chamber members who expressed an interest in further discussing local government procurement.
