Childrens clothes shop goes green in big way

CHILDREN'S clothes are going green at a Scarborough shop as the business ventures into the organic market.

Funkymunky, in St Nicholas Street, has branched in to a new market after

creating an organic baby and toddler section.

Sarah Farrar, who opened the children's wear shop in 2008, said: "In response to requests from our existing customers we are now offering organic baby and toddler wear in addition to the ranges we already offer.

"We have had a few organic pieces in over the past few months and because they are a little different our customers have been inquisitive.

"Apart from the obvious green statement these clothes will make, the organic certification from the soil association makes these items especially suitable for babies and toddlers with sensitive skin.

"In what is a tough period for retailers around the town we are trying something a little different. As well as trying to encourage new customers to try our shop we are also keen to reduce the need for people

to leave the town to get the items they want."
