A SCARBOROUGH schoolgirl is celebrating after picking up a prize for encouraging road safety.
Ariana Noon, who attends Hinderwell School, was presented with a new bicycle for designing an award-winning poster warning youngsters to be safe on Scarborough's roads.

She was presented with her prize in the school's Best Efforts Assembly and headteacher Phil Snowden said he was proud of her work.

He said: "The project involved the pupils in key stage two and was run by our year six road safety officers.

"It was a fantastic prize and Ariana knew nothing about it before the assembly so it was a very nice surprise. Her poster was really good. It made the point very clearly and we are all proud of Ariana."
