THAT grand old man of politics Tony Benn paid a flying visit to Scarborough this week.
The former Labour MP and minister in the Harold Wilson government of the 1970s spoke to delegates of the union TSSA, which represents workers in the transport industry, who were attending a conference at the Spa.

Mr Benn, who retired from the House of Commons at the last general election, was photographed by Susan Premru who had travelled from her home in Arnside, Cumbria, to look after her granddaughter while her daughter, who works in London, attended the conference.

Mrs Premru first met Mr Benn and his family several years ago and photographed him then.

She said: "I was cheeky enough to catch him after he had spoken at this week's conference and asked if he remembered me and he kindly agreed to have his photograph taken by me."
