A VERDICT of accidental death has been recorded on a Scarborough school technician who was killed while walking his dogs at night.
An inquest at Northallerton heard that Paul Rawlings, of Newby, who was well-known to many people, was walking his dogs without wearing reflective clothing when a black Fiat Panda car struck him.

The accident happened on an unclassified country road near Cumboots Farm in an area known as Suffield Moor.

A post-mortem examination showed that Mr Rawlings, 57, died from internal bleeding.

The driver of the car, Deirdre Found, told coroner Michael Oakley she had called the emergency services.

Traffic Constable Stuart Langford said he found no defects on the car and there was no evidence to suggest the vehicle was being driven in any manner other than normal.
