DISCUSSIONS over the future of Scarborough's landfill site at Seamer Carr should be completed within three months, it has been revealed.
In October it was reported that the Environment Agency was concerned about the risk of pollution from household waste seeping into the surrounding water system, leaking into the ground and into rivers and streams.

Yorwaste – the firm which operates the Seamer Carr landfill site off the A64 – had been operating the site without a Pollution Prevention Control permit since November 2005.

A Yorwaste spokesman said: "We are still in discussions with the Environment Agency over the future of the landfill site at Seamer Carr and we expect these discussions to be ongoing for another two to three months.

"Until the outcome of these discussions is known it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

Another great success story from SBC/NRCC, give them a pay rise for their incompetence, just take it out of our council tax payers obligatory rise, Money which at least we have had the competence to earn, unlike these wasters.

Incompetence at its finest.

A company operating for in excess of 4 years without a license and nobody has papers served on them for possible prosecution ?.

Why has the Environment Agency not taken any action considering the dangers that are stated ?.

The discussions to be ongoing for another two to three months. It begs belief but not surprising really.

It is the old, old story. Had Joe Public not had a license for anything for 3 months let alone 4 years they would have been in court post haste. Or not paid a parking fine or the like.

RE4, lol.

A Yorwaste spokesman said: We may have to close down but we will always reserve enough space for at least 50 rubbish councillors.
