PUPILS starting at Graham School in September took part in a summer school.
The aim of the course was to a give the youngsters a taste of English, maths, ICT, drama, geography and science and the chance to meet their new classmates before term begins.

Fourteen children took part in the summer school and all received a certificate as recognition of their achievements.

Nicola Hutton, English teacher at Graham, said: "The summer school is a fantastic opportunity for the students to make new friends, enjoy a supported learning environment and to be given a fun introduction to some of the subjects that they will be studying in September.

"The youngsters are all from different feeder primary schools and they have all worked extremely hard. The course was all about challenging their current skills whilst also helping them feel more relaxed before starting Year 7.

"We have also tried to encourage healthy eating this week by providing three portions of fresh fruit every day."

The school would like to thank WHSmith for supporting the summer school with their kind donations.
