CHILDREN from Friarage School enjoyed the sunshine when they took part in a national picnic-a-thon.
The children flocked to the South Bay beach where they tucked into a teddy bears' picnic and took part in a sandcastle-making competition.

The event was part of a national scheme organised by Warburtons to celebrate National Bread Week.

Friarage School teacher Sharon Cordon said: "The children really enjoyed themselves. It was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a delicious picnic on the beach. You can't beat eating your favourite sandwich out in the sunshine.

"There was plenty to keep the children occupied, from making sandcastles to playing beach games.

"The children prior to the picnic made their own teddies which made taking them along to the picnic extra special."

Now in its eighth year, National Bread Week aims to encourage families to enjoy Britain's outdoor spaces by having picnics.
