A PARKED car brought early morning chaos to a Scarborough road yesterday after it rolled down a hill and blocked access for buses and wagons.
The black Vauxhall Zafira rolled down Albemarle Crescent before coming to rest on the corner of Aberdeen Walk at around 6am.

It forced buses and delivery vehicles to be redirected through the pedestrianised area of Westborough and police said they believed it could have been caused by the vehicle's handbrake slipping.

The car was towed away at around 7.30am.

You've got to laugh, the junction of Aberdeen Walk and Albermarle Crescent seems to have more dramas then the rest of the town put together. Obviously you cant predict when a car parked on a hill is going to roll back due to it's brakes, but something must be done about this corner. Imagine if it has been at mid-day when this happened, pedestrians would have been at risk too. I would suggest double red lines painted on that bit of the hill so absolutely no parking whatsoever for anyone for at least 20 metres up the hill on both sides.

'police said they believed it could have been caused by the vehicle's handbrake slipping' As they say, get away.

They are of course overlooking the far more likely possibility that the car was abducted by aliens, who mistook the four-wheeled box of metal for the dominant life form on the planet. When they realised their mistake, they put it back where they found it, or as near as they could remember.

Read all about it in the Flying Saucer Review.
