FAMILY history enthusiasts descended on Crossgates Community Centre to find out more about researching their family trees.

The Family History Fair was organised by Leeds-based Your Fair Ladies and brought together free help and advice for anyone interested in researching their roots.

Demonstrations and talks were given and organisers said the event was suitable for everyone – from beginners right up to the more experienced.

A spokeswoman said: "Thank you to everyone who visited us at our Scarborough fair. We really enjoyed meeting the local people as well as those who had travelled to talk to our exhibitors for help and advice."

She added that the next fair would be next month at the University of Hull and people who wanted further information are advised to visit www.yourfairladies.co.uk
