PAUL Weller's Dalby Forest gig, on Saturday, sold out in six days – much faster than any other.
The record was previously held by Beautiful South, whose 2005 gig sold out in a couple of weeks.
The first time the Modfather played among the Dalby pines, in 2004, it took 12 weeks for the 5,000 tickets to disappear. It was the first Dalby Forest gig to sell out, following the Levellers in 2001, Pulp in 2002, Status Quo in 2003 and Jools Holland in each of these years, none of which sold out.
Neither did Madness in 2005, UB40 in 2006, M People and Travis in 2007 and the Zutons last year.
James Morrison's 2007 gig sold out in 12 weeks, compared with 18 weeks for Embrace in 2006 and 29 weeks for Quo in 2008, says Paul Cody, North York Moors recreation and environment manager for the Forestry Commission.
This year there will be two forest gigs – about 700 tickets are still available for McFly on Friday. Tickets went on sale in December.
