SCARBOROUGH'S MP has promised to present an internet petition, calling for justice for tragic Baby P, to the Prime Minister.
Almost 2,000 people have already signed Gemma Earnshaw's "Justice for Baby P" protest with thousands more joining a group set up in memory of the battered toddler.
Miss Earnshaw, of Lingholm Crescent, started the petition after reading about 17-month-old Baby P's horrific death.
The child suffered more than 50 injuries, including a broken back and eight fractured ribs, and was paralysed from the waist down.
Her petition calls for social service workers at Haringey Council to be sacked for not spotting the severe abuse. She also wants the three people found guilty of his death to be tried for murder.
MP Robert Goodwill said: "I think this illustrates the anger and frustration that many people feel.
"I think Gemma is doing really well. It is an example of people power. She feels very strongly about this and she has done the right thing in getting up and starting a petition.
"I would be delighted to deliver it to Downing Street so the Prime Minister can be aware of the strong views of the people in Scarborough."
Baby P's 27-year-old mother, his stepfather and a lodger were found guilty of allowing his death and are due to be sentenced next month.
Since the trial people across the country have called for the sacking of key social service workers who failed to spot Baby P's suffering.
The Sun newspaper launched a petition which has been signed by more than 200,000 people.
Haringey Council's head of children's services, Sharon Shoesmith, has been put under severe pressure to resign, but so far she has refused.
Miss Earnshaw added: "She has to resign after all this. There is no way she could continue. She and her staff completely let Baby P down. So many people have got behind these petitions.
"I am really pleased with how the petition is going but I am still urging people to sign it. This is all for Baby P."
The Prime Minister has insisted those to blame for failures in the Baby P case should be "held accountable" and an independent inquiry will look into the actions of Haringey Council.
Miss Earnshaw hopes to take part in a protest next month at the Houses of Parliament which will involve other campaigners who are fighting for justice for the tragic youngster.
