Larger than life Laughton makes top ten

LEGENDARY Scarborough actor Charles Laughton has featured in a list of the top 10 greatest "large" actors compiled by Shortlist magazine.
The article refers to him as “one of the most gifted, yet tortured, actors of his generation”.

Laughton was born in the Victoria Hotel in Westborough, in 1899.

The son of Robert and Elizabeth Laughton, he went on to become a stage and film actor as well as a screenwriter, producer and director.

His films include The Private Life of Henry VIII, Mutiny on the Bounty and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.
