Rainbow groups around Scarborough celebrated the 21st birthday of the national movement.
All the Rainbow units were invited to a special party at St Mark’s Church, Newby.
Many of the units have been growing sunflowers to mark the anniversary.
The girls of the 1st Cayton Rainbows planted 15 sunflowers in the garden of Cayton Methodist Chapel in Main Street, where they meet on Wednesday nights. They also enjoyed party games such as pass the parcel and musical chairs and ate cake as part of the celebrations.
The sunflowers were grown by one of the group’s leaders from seeds that had come with a magazine issued to Guiders across the country.
Julie Pidd, the group’s Rainbow Guider, said: “We had a great time and the girls loved it.”
Rainbows are the youngest of the Girlguiding UK sections; one in seven of all six-year-old girls in the UK is a member of a Rainbow unit.
