THE discovery of a possible Iron Age or Roman settlement could scupper plans on land earmarked for a massive housing estate.
A 13.5-acre section of land owned by Scarborough Council – part of the planned 1,200-home scheme at Middle Deepdale – may cover the remains of an early Iron Age or early-Romano British ladder village.

Archaeologists have said that there is a 20 per cent risk that the remains are of such high importance that the area would be unsuitable for development.

I can just see the SEN in the year 2109 ... work on the new Olympic Stadium on the North Side has been suspended due to the discovery of a Blair-Brown Era settlement buried beneath the rubble. The settlement, named The Sands, is believed to be a religious shrine constructed during the Blair-Brown Era, when many buildings of no obvious function were constructed due to the primitive population's belief that the world was about to end in 2012.

Thousands upon thousands spent on public consultation, an inquiry and master plan after master plan for an extension of Eastfield that no one wants, all to be throw in disarray by our ancestors.

How inconsiderate of them.

Surely this site must be preserved, I am 100% convinced it will be at the very least an award winning settlement.

Change from Crested Newts.

Nominate the site for and 'Enterprise' award, it is a racing certainty to win, Stonehenge would not stand a chance !!!!

#3 Eastfield will still get its extension, it'll just not reach as far as the snobby part.

#6 Well actually, when the assessment team took into account the following criteria

Governance
Local Character & Distinctiveness
User Friendliness
Commercial Success & Viability
Environmental & Social Sustainability
Functionality
Learning Potential
Free Lunches

Stonehenge didn't make the shortlist.

Re post 7 'whitepudding'

Why because someone is fortunate to live in Deepdale or surrounding area are they classed as living in 'the snobby part' ?.

Jealous seems to be about the correct answer.
