A LOVE-LORN Brit who moved from Scarborough to western Australia six years ago is offering his entire life for sale on eBay with a starting price of just one Aussie dollar.
Ian Usher, 44, decided to "throw it all in" following a split with wife Laura, of seven years, who he met in Scarborough while he was running a jet ski hire business.
The amazing "life" package includes the three bed, two bath home in a suburb of Perth, a Mazda car, a 140mph Kawasaki motorcycle and a jet ski.
The top bidder – who is expected to have to pay at least $500,000 Australian dollars (just under £250,000) to be successful – will also get lots of extras which will enable him or her to live Ian's sun-drenched Australian lifestyle to the full, such as a set of kite surfing gear, bodyboards, snowboards, a mountain bike and even a complete sky-diving outfit.
Ian said: "My life here is absolutely fantastic. But I just want to make a clean break and start again so I am selling everything, lock, stock and barrel, from the contents of my wardrobe to my kettle.
"Laura and I chose the house together and intended it to be our family home. Despite my life being busy and fulfilled, I still miss my wife so much. Everything around me is simply a reminder of the wonderful past we shared.
"My aim is to walk away at the end of the ebay auction with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, go to the airport and just jump on the first available plane to anywhere.
"My tale is a bit of a sad one, but I am not trying to sell anyone a sob story. I appreciate that many people have had to cope with much more than I have and have had much more sadness in their lives. This is just my way of dealing with what has happened to me."
As well as the airy, open-plan house with its projector television, DVD player and remote-controlled six-foot screen that can be viewed from the spa in the garden, the sale also includes an entree into the adrenaline-fuelled lifestyle of sky diving, kite surfing and motorcycling that he loves.
Ian, who became an Australian citizen in 2006, will also provide access to all his friends and supply details of his favourite bars, restaurants and places to go – the person who "buys" his life will even be given a fortnight's trial with his current employer, Jenny Jones, who owns a high-end rug store in Perth.
The bidding opens on June 22 and lasts for seven days, but Usher has spent weeks preparing a comprehensive website – www.alife4sale.com – complete with blogs and videos.
The site also includes an e-book charting his unconventional existence since leaving school, during which time he has done everything from running a hamburger van to driving monster trucks in a gold mine in Kalgoorlie, 400 miles east of Perth.
