PRELIMINARY work was due to start today on the £120 million holiday development in North Bay.
Site investigation work on behalf of the developers Benchmark Properties is due to take 10 days.

Fugro Engineering Services are carrying out the work and Benchmark is preparing to submit detailed plans.

A Scarborough Council spokesman said the work will include digging bore holes and trial pits to determine the ground conditions so they can design the foundations for the buildings that will comprise The Sands.

The engineers will be working at Kinderland, Atlantis, behind the Corner Cafe and at Burniston Road Car Park.

Work at the car park will involve the temporary loss some parking spaces.
