THE organiser of the Miss Scarborough competition has some fantastic prizes lined up for this year's winner.
Girls across the area are being urged to enter the competition.

The final is being held on Sunday May 8 at the Spa and the winner will automatically be entered into the Miss England final.

Other prizes include a beauty package from Serenity, based at Compass Health and Fitness in Barry's Lane; free hair and beauty from Shona's, in St Thomas Street, for the year; jewellery for the winner and runners-up from Enigma; a photo shoot from SMI photography; a dress from Desire for the winner and runners-up, and a handbag designed by Pamela Jones.

Organiser Melissa Chapman, 22, said: "The winner will get a host of treats throughout her year. This competition is great for Scarborough and the finalists always have a fab time on the night.

"The best prize is probably the automatic entry into the Miss England final.

"We are all really excited about the competition."

It's still outdated sexist rubbish.

Young girls in scanty outfits being leered at by dirty old men in dinner suits.

No doubt this kind of so-called "entertainment" appeals to the same kind of person who thinks deleting comments they don't agree with is better than argument. This event brings shame on everyone associated with it.

Agree with 4, in what way is this total non-event great for the town?

I would like to say well done to Melissa Chapman for organising an event of this size and contributing towards the local economy by using the Spa. I'm sure all the dirty old men in dinner jackets will be needing some overnight accomodation as well.
Although not my cup of tea and perhaps outdated in these self hating times, but at least she has some get up and go!

7 I would guess that the judges will be appointed by the Evening News and will be all the usual Backslappers, and probably their own reporters, so not much hotel accommodation needed unless any of the dirty old men in dinner jackets get lucky.
