A SCARBOROUGH supermarket has slashed the price of fuel as the petrol price war rages on.
Sainsbury's in Falsgrave is now charging 90.9p per litre of unleaded to match Wednesday's price cut by supermarket giant Asda.

Both supermarkets have also lowered the price of diesel to 105.9p per litre, making prices at Sainsbury's the lowest in Scarborough as of yesterday.

Fiona Daplyn, a store trainer at Sainsbury's, said: "There was a queue when I passed the petrol pumps at 8.45am this morning.

"It's nice to see that people are now getting better value when buying their petrol."

Other retailers in Scarborough are expected to follow suit as they compete for business.

You forgot to mention that Mossisons is now charging even lower, i.e. 89.9p a litre. However, the great Diesel ripoff continues. Whilst they drop petrol by 3p a litre, diesel goes down just 1p a litre. Are dieel drivers, including lorry and bus companies, sudsidising petrol users. We hear the reasons why diesel costs more, but the difference has now increased to 16p, this is a disgrace !!! How can differentials increase when the prices are falling ???

price of diesel to 105.9p per litre, that is 68.1p a gal (in old measures) more than unleaded, no wonder the price of food is still going up, it has to be passed on to something, as transport companys are not getting much benefit from this, or bus companys.
I agree with you #1 this is a disgrace

if you want to know how many ltrs to a gall just multiply by 4.54 then you can work out how much you are paying

Why are they comparing the prices at Asda? I am hardly likely to go all the way to York to get some petrol for my chainsaw.

Nice to see SBC out with the gritters this afternoon, while it was tipping down with rain.
