Sybil Fawlty is coming to Whitby! Actress Prunella Scales – who, as Basil Fawlty's shrewish wife in the TV classic Fawlty Towers, is no stranger to seaside hotels – will appear in Gertrude's Secret at the Pavilion Theatre on Thursday October 8 at 7.30pm.
The actress is familiar with the Yorkshire coast – in 1988 she was one of the stars of Michael Winner's film adaptation of Alan Ayckbourn's A Chorus of Disapproval, which was filmed in Scarborough.
Her other big screen appearances include The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, Stiff Upper Lips and Howard's End. Now in its third year on the road, Gertrude's Secret has appeared at major theatres throughout the UK.
The show is a series of fast-moving 10-minute monologues performed by different actors.
Each monologue tells a separate story, giving an insight into the life of the character.
Some are pure comedy, some are dark, poignant and moving, and some contain an unexpected twist.
Tickets are available from the theatre – for more information call (01947) 604855 .
