ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Scar-borough youngster Ellie Tattersall has been given a big tonic for the charity she helps.
The Scarborough Children's Cystic Fibrosis has been chosen as the charity to benefit from fundraising efforts of staff at Sainsbury's store over the next year.
Ellie, who suffers from the disease and has to take 30 pills a day, visited the store yesterday with mum Sue, a spokeswoman for the charity.
Sue said: "This is a dream come true – that a big company like Sainsbury's want to support a charity like ours. We are very grateful."
The Photo Studio, in Aberdeen Walk, has produced large photographs to publicise the cause. It was picked by the staff themselves from a number of local charities which put themselves forward.
Dawn Tunaligil, a staff member at Sainsbury's, said the charity stood out because it made her aware how much families need help for items that people take for granted.
Money raised for the charity will be used to buy items such as sports equipment or physiotherapy sessions.
Store manager Rob Brookes said: "I can see our store building a strong relationship with Cystic Fibrosis and making a difference with them. Thank you to everyone who applied for the opportunity to be chosen as the charity for the Scarborough branch."
