FORMER Doctor Who Chris-topher Eccleston and Secrets & Lies director Mike Leigh are among a host of star names heading to Scarborough for the National Student Drama Festival later this month.
The event runs from Saturday March 27 to Friday April 2 and will also feature stage director John Caird, retired actress and Royal Shakespeare Company producer Thelma Holt, playwrights Mark Ravenhill and Stephen Jeffreys, National Theatre Studio and many others.

The festival has been based in Scarborough for 20 years and provides a major out-of-season boost to the town's economy with students staying in local hotels and visiting pubs, clubs and restaurants.

Performances of student shows and workshops by visiting artists will be held in the town at the University of Hull's Scarborough Campus, the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Sports and Tennis Centre, Scarborough College and The Spa.
