HEALTH bosses are continuing to consult with the public in Scarborough on proposals to create a Darzi-style polyclinic.
North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust (PCT) have met with people at meetings and events over the last two months and are planning more consultation events.

The PCT is proposing a GP-led health facility open 8am to 8pm seven days a week to bo
th registered and unregistered patients.

Concerns have been raised in Scarborough and nationally that the new system could mean patients no longer being able to see their regular GP.

However, health bosses insist that “views and preferences expressed during the engagement process will inform the next steps and the specification for extended services”.

Venues for the “engagement events” have included the Brunswick Centre, Elders Street Day Centre, Scarborough Sixth Form College and the Oasis Centre Baby Clinic in Castle Road.

Forthcoming events still to be confirmed include the Balmoral Centre, the YMCA Leisure Centre and McCain’s staff canteen.

The proposals will be discussed at the Scarborough Urban Area Support Group, Scarborough Enterprise Agency, in Auborough Street, at 6pm on September 10.

Key staff from the PCT will be on hand to speak to the public and provide an update.

A public meeting will also take place at the Spa Complex in August on a date to be confirmed.

A report on the proposals will be discussed at a meeting of Scarborough Council’s projects and partnerships overview and scrutiny committee at 2pm on Monday.
