SCARBOROUGH'S Hairspray star Ben Ellis is appearing on the BBC TV show I'll Do Anything at 7.45pm tonight.
The former Scalby School pupil and Any Dream Will Do semi-finalist will perform with the five remaining hopefuls chasing the role of Nancy, in Cameron Macintosh’s production of Oliver.

The Evening News spoke to the actor during rehearsals for the show.

He said: “We’re doing a group number.

“I can’t say what it is but I’m really looking forward to working with them all.

“Coming back to the BBC studios reminds me of the competition to land the role of Joseph.

“It was nerve-wracking towards the end and I’m sure the remaining Nancy’s are all going through the same thing as I did.

“I’ve been trying to keep up with the show on TV but as I’m performing in Hairspray on Saturday evenings it’s been quite difficult. I’ve certainly got enough work on to keep me out of trouble.”
