A SCARBOROUGH schoolgirl is reminding shoppers that all eyes are on them.
Amy Dolan, 13, was awarded a £50 voucher after winning a competition to design a sign advertising the CCTV cameras that look over the town centre.

The competition was run by the Safer Communities Partnership, who wanted to remind late-night revellers that their antics may be caught on the CCTV systems.

Amy, a Scalby School student, said: "My grandad told me about the competition and I thought it was a good idea. Because the signs are for CCTV I thought they should be snappy, and not have too many words. I am really pleased I won. The signs look really good, and I have enjoyed buying lots of nice clothes from New Look with my voucher."

Her design features a pair of eyes, with two CCTV cameras forming eyebrows, and the simple message – Warning You Are Being Watched. It has been made into A3 sized signs, which will appear in the windows of shops that belong to the Anti Theft Group, of which there are over 90 members.

Mark Roberts, Community Safety Officer, said: "Amy's entry stood out as she had kept it simple, and had also incorporated a picture which worked really well. When she saw the full sized sign I think she was a bit surprised as to how good it looked on such a large scale."

Alan Bruce, anti-theft group co-ordinator, said: "From the entries we got it was clear everybody tried really hard. Amy's stood out because it is clear and eye catching. Hopefully it will do the job. What it is intended to do is remind people that the cameras are watching them."
