SANTA'S special trains will be taking children on festive excursions on the North Bay miniature railway from Saturday December 12.

The popular trip will depart from Peasholm Park Station and run to Scalby Mills where children will be met by Santa and be given a present before making the return trip.

Lesley Humphreys, the managing director of the North Bay Railway, said: "The children always love to go for a ride on the trains, and they're always excited to see Santa waiting for them at Scalby Mills.

"He spends time speaking to each child individually and we always make sure that they get really good presents.

"We don't make much money out of running the trains, we see it as a service to the people of Scarborough."

The trains will run on December 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23, and depart on the hour between 11am and 3pm.

Tea, coffee, lunches and seasonal snacks will also be available for parents.

Children's author Joe Coates has written a new book set on the North Bay Railway's Santa special trains entitled A Santa Special To Remember.
He will be giving readings 15 minutes before departure on December 12, 19, 21 and 22, which everyone on the trips is welcome to attend.

This is a great trip for kids and adults alike. I did it last year and it was brilliant.
