TWO young photographers have been "snapped up" for a prestigious new role.
Alex Hancocks, left, and Martin Lewis are both studying for a National Diploma in Graphic and Media Design Level 3 at Yorkshire Coast College.

They beat off professional competition to be chosen as the college’s official 2008 photographers.

Alex said: “Photography is a great passion of mine so I was really excited at getting the job.

“I mainly do landscape photography but working with individuals and groups has been great as I am interacting with lots of different people from around the college which I wouldn’t have done otherwise.”

Martin added: “To be offered this paid project has been great – it has also opened other doors for us.

“We have been offered the job of taking shots of the college’s BA (Hons) Costume Degree students modelling their own designs at Castle Howard.”

The pair’s role will involve taking roving and staged shots of students and staff either in the classroom or workshops across the college’s Lady Edith’s Drive and Westwood campuses which have been planned around their studies.

Stephanie Kirk, marketing and events manager, said: “We discussed the photography project with various professional companies.

“Alex and Marrin met with me and bid for the job. I’m really impressed with their professional attitude and understanding of the project.

“Their work so far has been so good I decided to book them to do the photography at my wedding later this year.”

She added: “If anyone else out there would like to hire their services, they can contact me and I will put them in touch.”
