TEXAS singer-songwriter Eric Taylor will play tracks from his latest CD Hollywood Pocketknife at the Stephen Joseph Theatre on Sunday.
He is one of the most influential songwriters to come out of Texas and has had a profound effect on the evolution and development of Texas artists Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen.

He was an integral part of a Houston songwriting scene that included Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and Guy Clark.

His eponymous 1995 CD was voted Texas album of the year at the Kerrville music awards and 1998's Resurrect was named one of the 100 'essential records of all time' by Texas magazine Buddy.

Scuffletown, released in 2001, received rave reviews and The Great Divide, released in 2005, was in the top 100 releases most played by folk radio in the USA.

The latest CD has seven new songs and three covers that show Taylor in his prime as a writer and performer, with an exquisite narrative style, keen, studied observation of the human spirit, and intricate, roots-driven guitar work.

A mesmerising performer, Taylor has played at many festivals and tours in the US and Europe.

His TV and radio appearances include Austin City Limits, Late Night With David Letterman (with Nanci Griffith) and Radio Scotland.
