POP fans of all ages flocked to Bridlington Spa last night to watch some of the hottest music acts perform.
The Sugababes, one of Britain's biggest girl groups, got the loudest cheers of the night and they did not disappoint the crowd of 3,000, singing all their hits including Push the Button.

The sassy group may be famous for losing members - only one singer, Keisha Buchanan, is actually an original Sugababe - but judging by the Bridlington audience, they certainly have not lost any fans.

They headlined the three-hour gig, performing 11 of their greatest hits in a polished, high-energy show complete with a live band and trio of dancers.

Danish popsters Alphabeat, who have had hits with Fascination and 10,000 Nights, were another top name on the bill.

They had started their day with a paddle in the sea.

Singer Anders SG said: "We woke up on our tour bus and looked out over the beach - it was amazing. And the venue is beautiful."

Perky X-Factor runners-up Same Difference also delighted the crowd with a set of feel-good cover versions.

Sandi Thom, best known for last year's anthem I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker, also won over the crowd with an energetic set, alongside newcomer Sam Beeton.

There was one disappointment as local indie rockers One Night Only - who hail from Helmsley - pulled out at the last minute because of illness.

The Brid Bash was a huge success and hails Bridlington Spa as a venue more than capable of housing top artists and putting on an unforgettable show

Two young girls made the trip from Scarborough.

Alexandra Asquith, 11, from Cloughton, said: "The Sugababes were very good. They played all the songs they have done.

"The lighting and dancing were very good and the Sugababes actually talked to the audience, some bands don't do that."

She also liked Sandi Thom.

"She did more than I Used To Be A Punk Rocker but that was my favourite." said Alexandra.

Her friend Kate Crossland, 11, from Huddersfield said: "I also liked Alphabeat and Same Difference who were fun.

"They sang songs you knew like those from High School Musical."
