SCARBOROUGH and District Light Opera Society, whose members are celebrating the group's 40th anniversary this year, will be the star performers at South Cliff Methodist Church next Monday, at 7.45pm.
They are no strangers to the church, having appeared there regularly over the years, but this latest show promises to be extra special as one of the highlights will be a singalong to some wartime favourite songs.

Society chairman Michael Wademan explains: "We always put on a week-long show at the YMCA Theatre at spring bank holiday and this year's concert, Happy As a Sandbag, was set in the 1940s era to mark our 40th anniversary.

"So one of the scenes we are doing at Monday's concert contains a good medley of Second World War tunes from this show. The audience will be invited to join in if they wish – they will be songs many of them remember – and it should go down well.

"For the rest of the show, we also have numerous soloists and a couple of musical snippets lined up."
