THE 19th annual Music for a Summer Evening concert takes place in the Salvation Army Citadel on Saturday, at 7.15pm.
Promoter Jack Middleton says: "Two well-known music groups will join together to provide a feast of delight for the ears of music lovers from far and wide."

The Salvation Army Band will be joined by the Staxton Singers, under the leadership of conductor Stan Kell.

The other guests will be cornet player John Beattie and trombonist Colin Neil, both from the Sunderland Monkwearmouth Salvation Army Corps.

The proceeds will go to St Catherine's Hospice.

Last year's concert raised £2,507 for the local branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society.
