AN Evening News headline inspired the unusual name of a band which has just released a six-track CD.
Mum Locked in Castle are four creative-music students at Hull University's Scarborough campus: Ben Sullivan on vocals, Dan Whinny on guitars, Andy Greening on bass and Joe Wilson on drums.

The band combine big stoner riffs with funky grooves and soulful vocals, says Dan.

They have played support slots for Hijak Oscar, Dividing the Line and All Forgotten, and were the first act on the Truck stage at Beached festival in August.

Their debut EP, Vultures, was released digitally last week via iTunes, Napster, Emusic and Rhapsody. Gold Standard Laboratories main man Sonny Kay provided the artwork and Mark Fairfax mastered it.

Tracks have been played on three BBC radio stations (6, Suffolk and York) and they have been interviewed on Hull KCFM.

They will play live on Radio York tomorrow, at Manchester's In the City festival next Tuesday and at Sharkey's in Hull on November 5.
