THIS WEEK: Jilly's Cafe, Hunmanby

We decided to visit Jilly's Cafe in Hungate Lane, Hunmanby.

It used to be the vets' surgery but has been transformed into a lovely little cafe seating approximately 20 people inside plus three tables outside.

We sat outside as it was a lovely day and it was very pleasant watching the world go by.

There is a good menu, with all-day breakfasts starting at 2.50 for children up to 5.85 for the biggest.

Various sandwiches range in price from 1.95-2.50, and other choices are Prawn Marie 3, Gilly's Melts 3.40.

A beef and onion baguette costs 2.20 and sausage and bacon sandwiches 1.95 each.

Salads, all with homemade coleslaw, cost from 4.50.

There is a varied children's menu and a variety of cakes and deserts.

Vin decided on the large Yorkshire pudding with sausage and a fruit juice and I had a chicken mayo sandwich.

My only criticism was the lack of garnish with my sandwich.

It would have been nice and made it a bit more of a treat. Most cafes do put garnish on so it was a shame.

There is a toilet which is outside but very clean, and the cafe supplies supplies highchairs.

Jilly is very chatty and friendly and that's what makes this cafe.

I would recommend a visit; it is worth it.

Rating out of 5

Value for money: 4 (it lost a point for no garnish)
