THIS WEEK: Cafe View, Eastborough
This week we decided to visit Cafe View at the lower end of town, as recommended by a friend.
As we entered Cafe View we were greeted pleasantly by the owners who said to choose a table and they would be with us shortly. We headed straight for the big bay window table with great views of the lifeboat house and the south beach, on the window ledge was binoculars and sea life books.
The lady was with us in no time as promised, armed with puzzles for the girls. Tracey ordered a latte and I ordered a mocha both of which were lovely and huge!
The girls had milk and after a trip to the very inviting cake display we settled on a carrot cake, a chocolate muffin and a cheese scone to share. The cake display cabinet was great and clearly marked with even a dairy-free and a gluten-free option which is seldom found.
The cafe was busy and getting busier as it was nearly noon. The couple at the next table had ordered the homemade soup which smelled wonderful and by their comments tasted as good as it looked! At just 3 it seemed very reasonable.
Cafe View is light and airy and very clean, a visit to the toilets found them clean and spacious with a separate baby changing area with wipes etc provided – nice touch.
Tea is only 1, coffees from 1.40, scones and teacakes from 1. A wide range of ciabatta and panini from just 3.95, a lovely children's Saturday lunch for 3.60 – a choice of sandwich, celery and cucumber sticks with dip, a piece of fruit and an organic fruit drink – healthy stuff.
Altogether a very pleasant experience, very child friendly and excellent service.
