SCOTS in Scarborough are preparing to celebrate Burns Night this evening.
A number venues in Scarborough are expected to mark the annual celebration of poet Robert Burns with traditional festivities.
Jimmy Rice, landlord of the Castle Tavern in Castle Road, is offering a free Burns Supper of haggis, neeps and potatoes and a shot of whisky to pubgoers.
He said yesterday: “We’re going to address the haggis before we serve the food. There’s still places available so whoever wants to turn up is more than welcome.
“We’ll also have a few charity collections on the bar, so if anyone wants to make a donation they can.”
Last year, the event raised almost £150 for Ellie’s Fund.
Robert Burns, who died in 1796, is regarded as Scotland’s national poet.
The festivities at the Castle Tavern will get underway at 8:30pm.
