The Chuckles return in new sea-faring tale
Comedy heroes, The Chuckle Brothers, Paul, left, and Barry, take to the stage at The Futurist on Saturday, to open their new show Picture by Andrew Higgins 120651b
EXPECT to hear “to me, to you” and the occasional “oh dear, oh dear” when the Chuckle Brothers return to Scarborough for their new show this weekend.
Brothers Barry and Paul Elliot are practising their sword splicing skills ahead of the swashbuckling adventure Return of the Pirates of the River Rother, in Stranger Tights, which comes to the Futurist Theatre on Saturday afternoon.
The sea-faring tales sees the boys on a theme-park water ride.
In a tunnel, they lean on a wall and get magically transported back in time to a world of pirates and sunken treasure.
Starting at 2pm, the show is full of “magic, mystery and mayhem, with fun and laughter for all the family, including grandmother”, says a spokesperson.
The due are most famous for their TV show Chucklevision which started in 1987, and their comedy usually derives from slapstick and other visual gags.
The new Chuckle Brothers show will return for weekly performances at the Futurist in the summer.

They come to Scarborugh at this time each year as they use the Futurist to rehearse their upcoming Spring tour with the Saturday show being the 1st date of the tour. They appear in the Summer which brings the type of seaside family entertainment that is still popular and keeps Scarborough seafront alive after 7pm. Whilst they aren't everyones' cup of tea they help keep a precious tourist ammenity open. It's a shame there is no alternative venue which could perhaps cater for popular bands with a capacacity of say about 6000 to offer a broader range of entertainment and help fill the B&Bs. You what, there is, in Scarborough, but where?
