School's Out! Time to party with the best

THE Underground music department at Yorkshire Coast College's Westwood campus is celebrating the end of term in style.

Instead of their usual evening gig, students will show off their considerable talents during a 12-hour musical feast at the Cask on Friday.

Hosted by the Blues Club, it will kick off at noon and run until midnight, with a host of acts taking part.

First up is compre and DJ Sy Elliott followed by popular college band Platinum Disco, who hit the news recently when they got through to the regional final of the UK LIve and Unsigned competition.

Acts playing during the afternoon include Craig Blair, Libby and Charlote, Stephen Corner, Anna la Fleur and, at 4pm and 6pm, finalists from the recent YCC’S Got Talent competition, who will perform songs and comedy sketches.

In the evening, from 6.30pm, Torque MC takes over compre duties and the Underground’s finest and loudest take the stage.

Bands include Beyond Sanctuary, 5Times9, the Aimee Jones Band, Alice Pimm and another dose of Platinum Disco. DJs include J Jarez, Tommy C, Andy Downes and Toro. The evening will round off with a set from Torque MC.

Between acts, throughout the afternoon and evening, other soloists, DJs, MCs and guests will take the stage.

The event will launch an Underground CD containing 16 tracks written and performed by the student acts. It costs 3.

Performing musician and course leader John Pattison says: “This promises to be a fantastic day showcasing the finest young musical talent in Scarborough.

“School’s out! Time to party with the best!”
