Quartet all set for Tap gig

THE Groovesocks are at the Tap and Spile on Sunday, at 4pm.

Previously called the Tom Townsend Band, the funk and soul outfit changed their name to avoid confusion with the Tom Townsend Blues Band.

The Groovesocks played their first gig as such at Blue Crush recently.

The gig was recorded for a demo-CD and a DVD.

Lead singer and drummer Tom Townsend says: "We needed a name that made us feel like a unit and most importantly was fun at the same time. We all love playing live with this band, so a live CD seemed the right way to capture that energy.

"We were all pleased to have the DVD filmed by talented actor and producer Paul Kynman, who really understands live performance and knows what works".

The other band members are Julia Wray on saxophones and vocals, Simon Coles on keyboards and vocals and Nick Boyes on bass.

The Groovesocks will also play at the Hayburn Wyke near Cloughton on 20 February.
