Open-mic idea has Zest

A NEW monthly open-mic night started at Zest on Wednesday January 27.

Acts which took part in Zest's recent Scarborough's Got Talent competition came up with the idea.

Bar owner David Bell says: "Some of the acts suggested we start an open-mic night to enhance our reputation for providing great live entertainment.

"We have a very successful music night on Sundays, which has featured great acts such as Tom Townsend, Sophia Wardman, the Pieces, Amaya, Abe Dargue, etc, so it seemed a natural thing to star an open-mic night, particularly as it is to be hosted by John Watton."

He added: "We will be offering a free drink to everyone who performs."
