Ken delights his fans
KEN Kitson held a sizeable turnout in the palm of his hand as he presented his first one-man show since moving to Scarborough.
Fifty-plus hardy souls made their way to the Sands complex and were rewarded with an evening of hilarious anecdotes, touching poetry and warm reminiscences from the Bradford-born TV and film actor.
The Last of the Summer Wine star traced his acting odyssey from drama school through TV series such as Danger UXB, The Sweeney, Minder, Coronation Street and Emmerdale to working with Hollywood star Harrison Ford.
A question and answer section saw Kitson's refreshing candour on several subjects, including himself, delight a receptive audience.
His readings from his current book of very grounded, down-to-earth poetry, Moods, Moments and Memories, were a delight, particularly The Heart of Scarborough, written since moving to the town.
Having shown himself as engaging in the flesh as he is on the screen, Kitson sent his audience out into the chilly Scarborough night with a warm glow of newfound familiarity with one of Yorkshire's treasures, missing when they walked in off a windy north bay three hours earlier.
l The event raised 135.50 for the RNLI.
