'Hutch' returns for home gig
ITINERANT musician John 'Hutch' Hutchinson is returning to his former home town on Saturday, to play at Cellars.
Hutch, who will be accompanied by bassist John Precious, has a few new songs under his belt, including a tribute to Johnny Kidd and the Pirates and others telling stories of Amsterdam and the old days.
He recently finished his day-job in the oil industry and regularly plays in Holland with Dutch musicians.
He says: "I play everywhere north of Amsterdam, the beautiful part - all clogs and windmills. Small towns like Edam and Alkmaar have great acoustic music venues. I will be going back there next month.
"I have been back to Sweden too. Two weeks ago I played in Gothenburg again in a duo with my mate Henrik Nagy who is a brilliant guitarist and the son of my old drummer from the sixties," says Hutch.
"I met up with the Spotnicks too in Gothenburg. They were celebrating their 50th anniversary. Only Baz Hampshire and his Tramps and the old boys will remember them."
Hutch has a long and distinguished history as a guitar player, singer and songwriter, including his seven-years off and on with David Bowie's bands.
