Dinner with a view at annual gallery event

SCARBOROUGH’S art gallery is throwing its doors open to dinner guests for the first time in more than 70 years.

Diners attending Scarborough Museums Trust’s annual fundraising dinner at Scarborough Art Gallery will enjoy a unique view – the Gallery’s collection of paintings.

The downstairs galleries are being converted into a one-off, pop-up restaurant venue for the event on March 17.

The dinner will begin with canapés and drinks, followed by a sneak preview of the latest exhibition, Fears, Foes & Faeries, which doesn’t open to the public until March 23.

Dinner, which is being provided by Beiderbecke’s Hotel and Restaurant, will then be followed by an auction of lots.

Scarborough Museums Trust Chief Executive Shirley Collier said: “The annual dinner has become quite a highlight of the Scarborough social calendar. Last year’s raised more than £5,000, which contributed to the Trust’s essential work with young people: we hope to raise even more this year for the same cause. The support of our sponsors is really important.”

Tickets are £40 each, and are available from Scarborough Museums Trust on 01723 384503 or info@smtrust.uk.com.

The dinner will take place during the Gallery’s brief closure for essential maintenance – it will not be open to the public between February 13 and 23 March 23.
