Comic's tough opponent

COMEDIAN Robin Ince takes on the moral majority in a show which took Edinburgh Festival by storm last year.

Expect angry tirades and quiet musings from one of the best brains in comedy.

Ince always has something interesting to say and something hysterical to rail against.

From “Natasha Kaplinsky’s tedious thoughts on baby formula and honey” (Observer) to Guantanamo torture victim Binyam Mohamed being “treated like royalty, enjoying custard doughnuts on the plane home” (Express), Ince gives such an amusing analysis of disturbing press content that you begin to wonder why you buy national newspapers in the first place.

He discusses the malaise of the iPhone generation, our consumerist lust for new things, journalist Melanie Phillips, Holocaust deniers and religion.

Ince has worked with Stephen Merchant, Jimmy Carr, Ben Miller, Graham Norton and Ricky Gervais. He appeared in an episode of The Office and had the support slot on two Gervais tours.

Robin Ince V the Moral Majority will be presented by Hilarity Bites and Musicport at Whitby Coliseum on Saturday March 27, at 8pm.

Tickets are selling fast for the last night of the series. Richard Herring will present Hitler Moustache on April 17.

Tickets cost 8 in advance and 10 on the door, and can be booked by ringing 01947 605089 or online at Musicport’s new website, www.musicportfestival.com.
