Blues club welcomes award-winning guitarist
BLUES/ROCK guitarist Mick Simpson and his band return to the Blues Club next Tuesday.
Mick is an internationally renowned guitarist who, among other things, was invited to play at BB King's 80th birthday party.
In 2004 his song Father's Son won the international songwriters award at the Brits.
He can play in various styles but is perhaps best known for his cover versions of Gary Moore classics such as Parisienne Walkways.
Pior to his last gig in September Mick donated a valuable guitar to the Blues Club, which raised 900 at auction. He is one of several top blues artists who have given their support to the club in recent months, hence regular appearances at the Cask. He last appeared there in September.
"Mick has played all over the world and is an amazing guitarist who can play in many different styles," says club promoter Mark Horsley. "His last appearance went down very well so we had no hestitation in arranging a return visit.
"His gig will include a mixture of blues, rock, funk, hard rock and smooth ballads including many Gary Moore, Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and Santana classics".
Mick will be accompanied by Benn Trott on guitar, Emilio Montouri on bass and Ian West on drums.
The band is due to start at 9pm.
