Dora Puppy - Review

In the aptly titled, DORA PUPPY, youngsters can help Dora the Explorer take care of her puppy, Perrito, and help train him for doggie competitions.

The main focus of the care involves washing and brushing, providing food and water, letting the dog outside to do its business, cleaning up muddy pawprints, and playing several different games with the puppy.

You earn tokens for each task, which can then be used to buy new toys or clothes for Perrito, or even enter him into the Big Puppy Competition.

The competition involves helping Perrito run an obstacle course and having him strike poses. All the actions are performed by either tracing certain shapes with the stylus or calling out commands into the DS's microphone.

If your young one can trace shapes and make noises, they can play it easily. After some initial tutorials, there is an element of freedom that allows players to mostly choose whichever activity they want to do, whenever they want to do it.

Dora is always along for the ride, reminding the player what to do each time. Her constant presence, and helpful reminder of the controls, is very helpful and reassuring.

The main thing parents need to know here is any child who wishes for a virtual pet game, but is not old enough to fully appreciate the likes of Nintendogs or one of the Petz series, can find exactly what they're looking for in Dora Puppy. The game is amazingly wholesome, requires no reading, and has a well loved character to guide kids through every step of the pet-care and competition process.

Overall, if you have a younger child with a DSi, they will get lots of enjoyment from this game, and you can be safe knowing the may well be learning something along the way. Not only that, but this does also teach them how to use a DSi aswell.
