I HAVE been coming to Scarborough for years ( in fact since I was six years old) and finally I moved here in 2007 (now aged 49!).
The roads due to the traffic lights are gridlock, parking a nightmare, when you find a spot, the cost to park even for an hour is exorbitant!

The new park and rides the council hope visitors will use (if they ever come back to Scarborough) are bui
lt too near the town, they should be further out as traffic will still queue on weekends down Seamer Road, probably even worse due to the countless sets of traffic lights on Seamer Road.

Mind you, if you do come into town, especially on the north side, you could park in the proposed new multi-storey car park that the council are letting Benchmark put up on the corner of Peasholm.

Do Scarborough Council care what happens here in Scarborough? All they seem to think is of is parking fines, rising council tax for all, extra council tax from properties built where the Corner Cafe, Marvels, open-air pool and Kinderland (which were all for the benefit of residents and tourists) were, higher fees for residents’ parking, fees for if you want a removal wagon by your property if you move!, fines for too much rubbish left out, even charging if you want a brown bin!

Why not go the whole hog and just put gates at every entrance to Scarborough and a toll for everyone who comes in and out?
