THE outcry against the loss of six parking spaces on Ramshill has been well reported by the Evening News.
Obviously it strikes a chord with some sections of the public.

Those of us who usually walk, cycle or take the bus aren’t really that bothered.

The shops at Ramshill are smack in the middle of a major residential area, but some of these “locals” will be in the habit of getting into their cars and going off to the supermarket.

They’ll rarely walk to the local shops. They won’t know what good value the veg shop is, they won’t appreciate what a good butcher’s and excellent fishmonger’s they’ve got.

The whole idea of the Local Transport Plan is to get people out of their cars and on to buses; to leave the cars outside the town centre.

After all, it’s the contents that we’re really interested in. Some of these people may even get on and off the bus in Ramshill.

We can now all do our bit for local shops by leaving our cars at home and by choosing to walk.
